WIC - Information and Communication Theory

The WIC (Werkgemeenschap voor Informatie- en Communicatietheorie) is a professional organization that aims at coordinating and stimulating the work of professionals in the field of Information and Communication Theory in the Benelux (i.e. Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg) and Germany.

The WIC organizes an annual two-day technical symposium where researchers from Industry and Universities from Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany meet and discuss their current research results and interests. The WIC also organizes MidWinter Meetings of a tutorial nature on current topics in its field.

WIC members receive IEEE Signal Processing Society Best Paper Award

The WIC board is happy to announce that WIC members Tanya Ignatenko (Philips Research) and Frans Willems (TU/e) have received the best paper award of the IEEE Signal Processing Society.

Registration for WIC Symposium is open, deadline April 1

On May 24 and 25, the 33rd Symposium on Information Theory in the Benelux will take place in Boekelo, The Netherlands. Successful 32nd Symposium on Information Theory in the Benelux

The 32nd symposium on Information Theory in the Benelux was held at the Université Libre de Bruxelles on May 10 and 11, 2011. It was jointly organized with the IEEE signal processing chapter of the Benelux by Francois Horlin. More than 50 researchers contributed to the success of the symposium. Stijn van Caekenberghe received the Student Best Paper Award. Two excellent invited speakers gave overview presentations, highlighting the convergence between information theory and signal processing:
