• [November] As of November 1, 1999, Jan W.M. Bergmans is a full professor on signal processing systems in the Electrical Engineering Faculty of Eindhoven University of Technology.
• [November] As of November 1, 1999, A.A.C.M. (Ton) Kalker (Philips Research Labs,
  Eindhoven), has been appointed part-time professor at the department of Electrical Engineering of Eindhoven University of Technology, where he will teach in "Signal Processing for Data Protection".

• [Mar] On March 30, 1999, dr.ir. R.L. (Inald) Lagendijk has been appointed "Antoni van Leeuwenhoek" professor at Delft University of Technology. With this appointment, Lagendijk, who is at the Information and Communication Theory Group, obtains the right to coach PhD students and to act as a PhD thesis advisor.
