Some Recent Developments in Multiuser Detection

Sergio Verdu, Princeton University

Several emerging communication technologies hold the key to approaching the information theoretic limits of wireless multiple-access channels capitalizing on sophisticated signal processing at the receiver. One of those technologies is multiuser detection, which exploits the structure of digital multiaccess interference in order to increase spectral efficiency.

Substantial progress in low-complexity solutions and in the understanding of the fundamental information theoretic limits of multiuser detection has been made recently.
