Introduction

This page helps you find information on the scientific publications the WIC. The main publications are the annual symposium proceedings. Furthermore, on the occasion of the 25th symposium, a special jubilee book was published, covering the previous 24 symposia.

The WIC symposium proceedings

The symposium on "Information Theory in the Benelux", organized in 1980 in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, signals the informal naissance of the WIC (an abbreviation of what literally translated means "Working Community for Information and Communication Theory"). The purpose of the WIC is to coordinate and stimulate the work of professionals in the field of Information and Communication Theory in the Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxemburg), and to further the application of information and communication theory. One of the activities of the WIC is its symposium, a two-day event that has been organized annually ever since 1980. The proceedings of the past WIC symposia on Information Theory in the Benelux can be purchased from:

The Jubilee Book

On the occasion of the 25-th symposium in 2004, a group of WIC experts has written a jubilee book that aims to provide an overview of technical results and developments presented at the 24 previous symposia. In addition to reflections on the development in the field, each of the eight chapters briefly discusses all published papers of the past symposia in the area. The reference list of the book contains 114 "general" references, and all 641 contributions to the WIC symposia. The preface, table of contents and complete reference list are available on the jubilee book page.
